Family Information Service

Commitment 1: We commit to gather all general information for unpaid carers in the Vale of Glamorgan, on the Dewis system, under one hashtag to make it easy for them to locate everything they may need. We will also create need-specific hashtags.

Commitment 2: We commit to signposting to and providing information about all local unpaid carers services, support and activities (including young carers) to parents and carers throughout the Vale of Glamorgan.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Social Care Information Team recognise that caring is an important issue that affects our colleagues and service users and that carers play a vital role within our communities.

The team comprises of the Family Information Service and the Dewis teams. The Family Information Service provides information on childcare, activities and services for children and young people and family support in the Vale of Glamorgan. Whereas the Dewis team promotes, expands and develops the Dewis system which is an online directory that allows residents to access information on local well-being services and activities.

The Social Care Information Team’s work is aligned with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 which aims to improve the well-being of individuals who need care and support, as well as carers.
