Carer Friendly is part of the charity TuVida

St Joseph’s RC High School

St Joseph’s RC High School, Newport, commits to the importance of raising awareness and vital support of our young carers and their families through a considered and researched ten-point plan of action. The intention is to deliver better outcomes, experiences and futures for carers and their families:
• ‘Think Carer, Think Family’.
• Support what works best for individual carers as there is no ‘one size fits all’
• Research good practice, share what we do and learn from others
• Ensure we are not just ‘home for the day’ but continue to support beyond the school curriculum and we practice ‘right time, right place’ for carers and families
• Find out what matters most to our carers and families
• Practice open and active partnership working because we cannot support alone
• Make sure relationships are at the centre of everything we do and carers have a trusted person to approach
• Provide staff with the knowledge and skills so everyone can give the best possible support and identify bespoke guidance
• Prioritise health and wellbeing
• Encourage carers to access resources within and beyond school
